First for Women Magazine Loves The Happy Life Checklist!

Wednesday, May 28th, 2014

I’m so grateful today to see this wonderful review of The Happy Life Checklist in First for Women magazine.

HLCFirst

The editor who reviewed it makes a good point: We can always find a few minutes for things that help build our happiness. And right now, I’m using my minutes to share my gratitude. Then I’ll take a deep breath and inhale the fresh air of early summer. What will you do with your next few minutes?

NOW Magazine & The Happy Life Checklist

Thursday, February 27th, 2014

This week’s issue of NOW Magazine in the UK (it’s like the People magazine of Great Britain) was kind enough to ask my advice for a fun feature on how to do newly single style right.

The story features beautiful British  TV star Sam Faier (of TOWIE and, recently, Celebrity Big Brother) who’d recently broken up with her TOWIE co-star Joey Essex. And she seemed to be doing the breakup makeover — a.k.a. the “break over” — just right. (So right, in fact, there are rumors the two of them may be dating again!) And though she’s now talking about how she is fighting back against her Crohn’s disease, she is certainly doing it with a healthy, happy glow and a confident style.

Here’s what I had to say about it, based on the positive ideas in my new book The Happy Life Checklist: 654 Simple Ways to Find Your Bliss:

NOWMagazine

When it comes to your break over look, just remember  it’s all about you: the authentic, confident, dress-for-your-own-comfort you.

My Writing Life: Inside the Author’s Studio

Wednesday, February 5th, 2014

I did a fun interview this week with my fabulous literary agent, Laurie Abkemeier, for a regular feature she calls “Inside the Authors Studio.” I got to share a photo of my writing space, showing my desk and bookshelves in my bright little office in Venice, CA—the better to write about “bright” things, of course.

I also got to share some of the secrets about my writing process—like when I feel I do my best writing, and whether or not I share my works-in-progress with anyone other than my editor/agent. I think it’s always fun to read about how other writers and authors work (and if they share their early drafts with people!) so I thought I’d give back to the pool and answer some of those questions myself. I hope you enjoy.

While you’re at it, poke around the rest of Laurie Abkemeier’s page for information on her other authors as well (and follow her on Twitter at twitter.com/LaurieAbkemeier. She is officially the world’s best literary agent—the supportive, insightful, always-right, hand-holdy kind—and I am so grateful I get to be a part of her close knit author community.
