How to Prevent a First Date Trainwreck

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

You gotta love a good headline. And the awesomely entertaining Lemondrop.com does a damn good job with them, considering what they’ve called my latest piece of advice in their “Ask the Expert!” series. This week, I offer my advice on how to have a great first date.

The Question: “What are your tips for the first date?”

My Answer: Find out here!

In essence, it’s all the long way of saying: Be yourself from every angle. Let the right person fall in love with you for the right reasons!

Take that with you into the New Year and you’ll be that much closer to that new relationship.

Happy New Year,

Amy

Some Sweet Holiday Advice

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

As we wind down the holiday week, I thought I’d pass along two of my stories that appeared recently on AskMen.com. The first: How To Survive Holiday Dating. There are, you see, a few ways that this lovely season can throw some roadblocks into your romance. But there are also a lot of ways you can use all this holiday spirit to your dating advantage!

My tips are all here on the site…

And if you don’t just want to survive holiday dating but slam-dunk it, check out another piece I wrote: Seduce Her With Chocolate. The way I see it, most of us gals will be going back on the healthy wagon come January 1st, so if you want to take advantage of how easily a little chocolate can butter her up, do it now!

Best of luck taking the tips to heart, starting with the holidays and on into the new decade.

Happy New Year!

Some Tips to Survive “Holiday Hell”

Monday, December 28th, 2009

I was interviewed for a new article on Health.com (which has also been picked up by CNN.com’s How to Save a Relationship from Holiday Hell) about how difficult the holidays can sometimes be. Yes, it’s a season of cheer and indulging and giving…but sometimes the taking can be tough, too.

In this article by Maura Kelly, I offered my advice, as a dating optimist, for accepting presents from your significant other gracefully.

For more information on the book, out February 2nd, go to meetingyourhalforange.com.

Happy graceful and “Health”-y holidays,

Amy

Kathryn Morris: Her Happiness Secrets

Sunday, December 27th, 2009

This month’s issue of First for Women magazine features my cover interview with Cold Case star Kathryn Morris. She was bright, fun and had some great insights I thought I’d share with you from the December issue about how curious she is, and how much she loves to learn. My favorite part of the interview? When she passed on this great advice someone had given her: “Be interested, not interesting.”

The way I see it, we could all learn a little from her positive energy as we head into the “first” of the new year.

Happy holidays,

Amy
