Katy Perry: Her “Christmas Eve Jitters”

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

There’s a new theme going on in my star interviews: Sometimes, they get engaged right after I interview them. It happened with actress Maria Bello when I interviewed her for a Page Six magazine cover last year, and this past month, right after I interviewed singer Katy Perry for the cover of Glamour magazine, she traveled to India and got engaged to her boyfriend Russell Brand. I mean, I’m not claiming to have any super-ring-powers, but if there’s such thing as a good love charm, I’ll take it!

Katy had some pretty cute things to say about how seeing Russell gives her the “Christmas Eve jitters,” and I also posted a great quote about how she considers Russell her other half—like a half-orange—which you can see here on The Dating Optimist.

You can find the Katy Perry Glamour interview here, or by clicking on the first page of the story below, or if you—gasp—buy the magazine. 🙂

It really is worth reading. I gained super-respect for the 25-year-old—she’s a wise soul in an ingenue’s body. Read the article to find out more.

My Interview with Jason Reitman

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

One of my favorite movies from 2009 was Jason Reitman’s Up in the Air. Clooney at his best so far, I think, with a compelling story. Which is why I was stoked to be able to interview Jason for this month’s January 2010 issue of Angeleno magazine, a fab lifestyle magazine out here in Los Angeles.

As the son of comedy director Ivan Reitman (who did Ghostbusters and Animal House), who already has Thank You For Smoking and directing Juno behind him, Jason Reitman will be a force for decades to come, so get your Reitman reading on now!

Here’s my short but sweet interview with Jason at the digital version of Angeleno (it’s on page 42), which you can also get to by clicking on the article below.

Kristen Bell: “Laughing is the best workout!”

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

I had a great conversation with actress Kristen Bell at a breakfast joint in Silver Lake in Los Angeles recently.

And you can read about it in the Jan/Feb 2010 issue of Health magazine.

The When in Rome star (formerly the Forgetting Sarah Marshall star) is a real kick and had me laughing all meal—and I feel the Q&A really captures that. So if you want to know more about the healthy spitfire check out the whole Kristen Bell interview.

I knew she was fit and worked out, but she knew a lot more about health than I even expected. She rattles off so many caloric figures for eggs and beans and bread, it was like she could be her own iPhone App. But her view on health was also refreshing, as she talked about liking voluptuous curves and Madonna arms, and finding true health in confidence, self-acceptance and happiness.

And the easiest way to get there? A good laugh…
