What Their Bodies Feel Like When…

Friday, March 26th, 2010

I totally forgot to tell you about the interviews I did for the awesome Health magazine for a story they did called “What It Feels Like…” featuring different actresses, dancers and hosts. I got to be a part of writing up their experiences for the January/February 2010 issue. The two women I spoke to:

Carrie Ann Inaba (who was so much fun to chat with, I could have talked to her for hours!) talked about “What My Body Really Feels Like…In Motion.” Jennifer Love Hewitt, who has her own dating book out this month, talked about “What My Body Really Feels Like…When I’m Afraid.”

Here are my pieces from the magazine:

I must say, spending my days getting paid to talk to cool, smart, accomplished women isn’t too bad. 🙂

Foreign Stores: One of My “Favourite” Things

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

It was super fun to see my book selling on Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble of course. But I still get a kick when I see that my book is on sale in other countries, in a “Wow, it made it all the way over there?” kind of way. Here’s a recent review of the book in the European store Foyles, which made it onto their current list of Mind Body Spirit faves:

Thanks for the foreign (sales) aid!

Amanda Seyfried: Down-to-Earth Glamour

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

This month’s Glamour magazine features three glamorous actresses, and I was lucky enough to interview one of them: Amanda Seyfried (the other two covers feature Zoe Saldana and Leighton Meister).

My interview appears in the April 2010 issue, which you can pick up. You can also read the whole interview online at Glamour.com or click on the image here:

She’s a very cool, sweet, funny, natural girl (who now owns THE cutest dog named Finn) and I wish her the best in her career. I hope I’ll be lucky enough to catch up with her again as she rises to the top the of the acting barrel, which I’m certain she will.

TODAY: Get Optimisms on Your iPhone!

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Wouldn’t it be nice if you had a friend telling you JUST what you needed to hear before a big date? Or right after a bummer one? Or first thing in the morning when you’re having a bad hair day and can’t seem to shake your mood? Wouldn’t it be nice to have a little nudge of optimism? Well, you know what I’m going to say here…now you can!

In the hopes of passing along positivity in a new way to those of you who have iPhones, I’ve created an iPhone App called Half-Orange Optimisms that launches today, March 18th!

It’s a collection of 100 original Optimistic quotes I’ve come up with to give you a boost about yourself, your mood, your dating life and your life as a whole. Like a Fortune Cookie meets a Magic 8-Ball Meets Your Crazy Dating Life, you just shake the phone, and the 3-D spinning orange will reveal…

…a few cool words of happy dating wisdom. I’ll be updating the App regularly with brand-new phrases and tips, so it’ll always be full of some fresh, healthy positive advice.

I know I’m not perfect about updating my blog every day. And sometimes I don’t get around to Tweeting for a few days at a time either. So I thought this would be a good way to help you ralley when you need it. You know you have optimism in you, and I know you have it in you, but the iPhone App will just help squeeze it out of you when you want it most.

And look, when you upload it to your phone, it looks like this rad little orange on your screen!

I’d be honored if you deem it fun and useful enough to download it to your phone. Consider it the best love attitude investment you could get yourself this year. 🙂

Big iPhone love,

Four Hearts for Half-Orange!

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

My book, Meeting Your Half-Orange: An Utterly Upbeat Guide to Using Dating Optimism to Find Your Perfect Match got another magazine plug, this time in Today’s Chicago Woman.

Here is the magazine, with my sweet cover on their Books page—the only book that got four “hearts” in the whole roundup! Thanks TCW.

I’m hoping that adds a little love to Chicago…and every city between there and here, too.
