Julianne Hough Gets Real with me in Redbook

Monday, July 21st, 2014

REDBOOKJulianneHough_Page_1I had the most refreshing sit-down with Julianne Hough—dancer, actress, singer, choreographer, TV judge, producer and shoe designer. (I think I’ve covered them all.)

We got to chat for the August cover of Redbook magazine after her photo shoot at a house in Beverly Hills recently, and the former Dancing with the Stars champion wasn’t just nice, down to earth and real—she was also in a time of transition in her life that is all about letting her real self shine through, and she shared it all. You can see some of the piece online at in For Julianne Hough, Everything Has Changed.

If you grab the issue and read the whole piece, I hope you enjoy it. And if you get a chance to see her and her brother Derek in their “Move on Live” dance tour this summer, do it.

I got to share some “Happiness Boosters” with Health magazine for their July/August 2014 issue. If you can’t read them, here’s another image of my “Pro-share” tips that will help you see them more easily:

Here’s to a happy week.

Maria Menounos: “I Bet On Me”

Wednesday, July 16th, 2014

I got to work with the July/August issue of Health magazine in a few ways. One of them? Sitting down to chat with the cover star, Extra TV host and star of the Oxygen reality show Chasing Maria: Maria Menounos.

We sat down to talk in the Extra offices in Los Angeles and I was inspired by her unstoppable nature. Check out the interview at Maria Menounos’ Secrets to Success, to hear about her workout tricks and how she attacks life with gusto.

I hope you enjoy reading the piece as much as I enjoyed writing it.

How to Be Brave, with Demi Lovato

Wednesday, July 9th, 2014

I always love interviewing singer/songwriter and actress Demi Lovato. She is one of those wise young souls who has been through more in her 21 years than some people experience in al lifetime. And she’s using her powers for good.

This time, it’s to guest edit Seventeen magazine’s August 2014 issue, with advice for the readers at about How to Be Confident No Matter What. I sat down with Demi on the couch at her apartment in L.A. while shared her best confident-building secrets, and a few rough moments she’s weathered on her way to loving herself. That’s her editor’s note for the piece. Check out some more of her story here:

Jonah Hill Gets Serious in Glamour

Wednesday, July 9th, 2014

One of my favorite things about interviewing people for a living is that while I always walk into a room with at least some kind of expectation for how the conversation will go, ad every once in a while, I’m sent whirling in the opposite direction, utterly surprised by what I find.

Sometimes, what I discover is disappointing; after all, the world is full of people who are some form of boring, arrogant, ignorant, or just plain bland, so how could I not come across a few of those in my chatting travels. But sometimes, my expectations are shattered in the most delightful  way. And that’s what happened when I interviewed Jonah Hill for the July 2014 issue of Glamour. What I expected: A total joker. What I got: A sincerely serious guy.

Rachel Bilson: Rachel’s Got Heart

Wednesday, July 9th, 2014

Open the June 2014 issue of Health magazine and you’ll find my interview with the adorable star of th CW’s Heart of Dixie, Rachel Bilson.

RachelBilsonHEALTHCoverI got to interview Rachel many years ago for the cover of Page Six Magazine in The New York Post (here’s a link to part of that feature, Rachel Bilson’s Divine Intervention). She was just as bright and friendly this time and had me laughing out loud more than a few times.

For this summer issue of Health, we discussed her favorite fitness ideas, her happiness secrets, her relationship builders, and her body confidence—just weeks before she officially announced her pregnancy with actor Hayden Christensen. And for your own laugh, see what she says about her obsession with flamin’ hot Cheetos.

You can read through the whole story here, Rachel Bilson’s Got Heart, on the site.
