My latest Alexa cover feature for The New York Post: an interview with actress Zoey Deutch—daughter of Lea Thompson, star of this month’s indie film Flower, and the upcoming star of the Netflix romcom series Set It Up.

When we sat down in a photo studio in Downtown L.A., she talked about her starring role in this month’s indie film Flower, her focus on the Times Up movement, working with her famous family, and–because she’s awesome–her favorite food order at Katz’s deli in New York City.

In the Words of One Strong Mother: “I Had to be Brave for my Son”

Wednesday, March 28th, 2018

Every once in a while, I get to tell an important story that may help save lives. And this month, Good Housekeeping magazine features one of them. I got to speak with Nikki McIntosh about her family—specifically the story of their son Miles who, at almost two years old was diagnosed with the genetic degenerative disease SMA (spinal muscular atrophy) that can affect a child’s ability to walk, stand, swallow and breathe.

She shares how she and her husband fought for their son’s diagnosis, care, treatment and how they were able to get him into a drug trial that has miraculously affected him and may help other children in need. It’s a story of resilience and love and it was an honor for me to tell it.

Nikki’s story is on stands now, in the April 2018 issue of Good Housekeeping and will hopefully be online soon. Here’s a taste of the start of it. For more information, visit curesma.org.

Now that I’m more than a decade into being a full-fledged California girl, it’s been fun working on some of the issues of Visit California magazine — the state tourism guide. My latest: A cover interview with Extra host Mario Lopez for the 2018 edition of Visit California that will be out all year.

Here’s his “California Questionnaire” which also links to all sorts of good Golden State recommendations.

And as for my recommendations? Here are mine, shared in my contributor Q&A.

HGTV: A Makeover, Bright Side Up!

Thursday, September 28th, 2017

I added a new kind of interview to the mix this season by talking with a California family and their home designer for this month’s issue of HGTV magazine. The story highlights a fresh before and after makeover of the Ueberroth family home in Costa Mesa, CA.

They revamped their slightly dark and dreary former house into a light, bright home for their vibrant family of five—with a lot of paint and without tearing down walls.

Check out their gorgeous home in the sixteen-page feature in the September 2017 issue.

You can read the full story here: A California Home Gets an Impressive New Look. But in the meantime, here’s a taste of some of that decor…
