Tracee Ellis Ross: Fit and Fierce

Tuesday, March 14th, 2017

Some days, I can’t believe my luck—that my job is to sit down to chat with some of the most creative, confident, inspiring, badass women. And this month is no different.

I got to sit down with Tracee Ellis Ross—Emmy winning star of the hilarious and important show Blackish, former star of Girlfriends, daughter of Diana Ross, and the cover star of the March 2017 issue of Health magazine.

You can check out our full interview  here on the Health site: Tracee Ellis Ross: “At 22, I woke up like that. At 44, I work really hard.”

Read what she has to say about her intense workout routine with Tracy Anderson, the lessons she’s learned with age, how she came to love her body (which is badass as you can see) and her vices (the funniest I’ve heard yet!).

Lauren Graham: Gilmore Girl & Memoir Author

Tuesday, December 13th, 2016

laurengrahamcomp2

For the January 2017 issue of Good Housekeeping, I sat down with actress Lauren Graham to celebrate the revamp of Gilmore Girls and the launch of Lauren’s first memoir Talking As Fast as I Can. She also took me around her neighborhood, where we popped into her charming, cozy, gorgeously decorated personal office where she’s been working on her second novel and the script for the film The Royal We that she’s developing with her former Parenthood co-star Mae Whitman.

So yeah, she’s busy. You can read the full story in the new issue of Good Housekeeping on stands now, or check it out here on the GH website: Lauren Graham of “Gilmore Girls” Spills her 7 Biggest Get-Happy Lessons.

(And I mean, with my three books on happiness like Bright Side Up and The Happy Life Checklist, could there be a more “me” kind of story to write?)

Hope you enjoy. I did!

Pep Talks from Jillian Michaels

Wednesday, October 19th, 2016

In the TV pitching industry, there is a term MOP: Most Often Pitched. In my world, I just crossed a threshold into more of an MOI: Most Often Interviewed. And lucky for me, the person topping my list is the wildly fit, talented and wise Jillian Michaels, whom I recently interviewed for the November 2016 cover of Health magazine.

jillianhealthcover

She has a lot of insight on eating healthy (of course) and staying fit (duh)–even getting your body back after a hiatus like a pregnancy, injury or the holidays. But as always, she also has some big thoughts on conquering life itself. As my favorite quote of hers this month says:

The middle is the answer to everything. If somebody asked me, “What is the secret of life?” I would say, “Middle.”

Here’s my full story Jillian Michaels: “I’ve Taken a Lot of Punches But I’m Still Standing” which is in Health magazine on stands now. Click it or grab it and find out what advice Jillian would give her younger self, what she really thinks of millennials, and the 3 best pep talks she’d give us in our worst moments of self-defeat. Though my favorite part is listening to the advice she gave her young daughter before her first day of school. I just may have to use some of that myself…

My BRIDES Essay: Happily Ever Before

Wednesday, March 9th, 2016

By all accounts, I had a dream wedding with my husband Gus. But the planning—oh, the planning.

BRIDESCoverBright

After the six fast months we pulled our wedding off in Mexico, I finally understood the building stress that can turn some sweet women into Bridezillas. And I learned so much about seeing things “bright side up” that I wanted to share it.

So here’s my essay in Brides magazine: “Happily Ever Before.”

Meeting Bella Thorne for Seventeen Magazine

Wednesday, January 13th, 2016

Here’s one my most recent cover stories, for Seventeen magazine, with actress and singer Bella Thorne.

Screen Shot 2016-01-13 at 12.00.02 PM

After sitting down to talk with her in her Los Angeles home, I get what all the celebrity fuss is about with Bella. She’s the real deal—literally. She’s honest, open, snarky, funny and driven as hell. And after a difficult childhood, she’s now 18 and using what she’s learned to forge her own path in Hollywood.

You can grab December 2015/January 2016 issue of Seventeen on stands now to read the full story on Bella. Here’s a taste of how it all begins and some of the things we talked about.

Sophia Bush Seizes the Day / HEALTH Magazine

Tuesday, August 25th, 2015

SophiaBushHEALTH_Page_1

I guess it’s fall, then. My first autumn cover is for the September 2015 issue of Health magazine, where I sat down for coffee one morning in West Hollywood with Sophia Bush.

Formerly of One Tree Hill, she’s now one of the stars of the NBC show Chicago P.D. and engaged in more than a few charitable organizations. Loved her. Love the piece. Hope you agree.

You can read the full piece here — Sophia Bush Seizes the Day — on Health.com’s website.

To Live The Good Life: DO Talk to Strangers

Friday, May 29th, 2015

Peel your eyes off your devices and what do you find?

DrOzStrangersCOVER People—real, friendly, right in front of you—who can spark up your day and nourish your soul. Learn why experts want you to talk to strangers in my new piece for the Dr. Oz magazine The Good Life.

My story, called “Start with Hello” isn’t available online, but it is in the June 2015 issue of the magazine, which is on stands now. I’m really proud of the story, which  has actually inspired me to look up from my iPhone and talk to more strangers than I ever would—in the market, at the UPS store, at the coffee shop; standing beside me or working the counter. And the experts are right: it has made me happier.

Here’s a small preview of the piece. If you like what you read, grab a copy! And while you’re waiting in line to purchase it beside a few strangers, well, you know what to do…

Julianne Hough Gets Real with me in Redbook

Monday, July 21st, 2014

REDBOOKJulianneHough_Page_1I had the most refreshing sit-down with Julianne Hough—dancer, actress, singer, choreographer, TV judge, producer and shoe designer. (I think I’ve covered them all.)

We got to chat for the August cover of Redbook magazine after her photo shoot at a house in Beverly Hills recently, and the former Dancing with the Stars champion wasn’t just nice, down to earth and real—she was also in a time of transition in her life that is all about letting her real self shine through, and she shared it all. You can see some of the piece online at Redbook.com in For Julianne Hough, Everything Has Changed.

If you grab the issue and read the whole piece, I hope you enjoy it. And if you get a chance to see her and her brother Derek in their “Move on Live” dance tour this summer, do it.
