Tracee Ellis Ross: Fit and Fierce

Tuesday, March 14th, 2017

Some days, I can’t believe my luck—that my job is to sit down to chat with some of the most creative, confident, inspiring, badass women. And this month is no different.

I got to sit down with Tracee Ellis Ross—Emmy winning star of the hilarious and important show Blackish, former star of Girlfriends, daughter of Diana Ross, and the cover star of the March 2017 issue of Health magazine.

You can check out our full interview  here on the Health site: Tracee Ellis Ross: “At 22, I woke up like that. At 44, I work really hard.”

Read what she has to say about her intense workout routine with Tracy Anderson, the lessons she’s learned with age, how she came to love her body (which is badass as you can see) and her vices (the funniest I’ve heard yet!).

Pep Talks from Jillian Michaels

Wednesday, October 19th, 2016

In the TV pitching industry, there is a term MOP: Most Often Pitched. In my world, I just crossed a threshold into more of an MOI: Most Often Interviewed. And lucky for me, the person topping my list is the wildly fit, talented and wise Jillian Michaels, whom I recently interviewed for the November 2016 cover of Health magazine.

jillianhealthcover

She has a lot of insight on eating healthy (of course) and staying fit (duh)–even getting your body back after a hiatus like a pregnancy, injury or the holidays. But as always, she also has some big thoughts on conquering life itself. As my favorite quote of hers this month says:

The middle is the answer to everything. If somebody asked me, “What is the secret of life?” I would say, “Middle.”

Here’s my full story Jillian Michaels: “I’ve Taken a Lot of Punches But I’m Still Standing” which is in Health magazine on stands now. Click it or grab it and find out what advice Jillian would give her younger self, what she really thinks of millennials, and the 3 best pep talks she’d give us in our worst moments of self-defeat. Though my favorite part is listening to the advice she gave her young daughter before her first day of school. I just may have to use some of that myself…

Healthy Home-Cooking with Giada DeLaurentiis

Wednesday, September 21st, 2016

e466edf52622de43_health1016covsubs This month, for the cover of Health magazine’s October 2016 issue, I had a fun and insightful conversation with Giada DeLaurentiis — chef, TV host, cookbook author, children’s book author, restaurant owner…oh my, the list goes on. She was full of fun stories, great tips and suggestions on how to make home cooking easier, healthier and tastier than ever.

You can read my conversation with Giada on Health.com, Giada DeLaurenttis: “I’ve Never Been a Takeout Girl” and follow along as we talk about what lesson she still uses most from cooking school, what she thinks of cooking shortcuts like canned beans, and her flavor obsession of the moment…which is now on my shopping list.

And if you want a truly interactive experience, sign up for Health magazine’s No Takeout Challenge, which offers one new recipe per day, prep ideas and shopping lists, plus (the best plus) Giada’s encouraging video tips for making meals at home that are quick, flavorful and easy on your wallet. Sounds #yum to me.

The Property Brothers: Living the Dream

Thursday, April 7th, 2016

I recently flew out to Las Vegas for a different kind of story: To visit the dream home of HGTV superstar home experts Jonathan and Drew Scott, also known as The Property Brothers. I sat down to talk with them for the cover of PARADE magazine about their childhood, their careers, their downtime, and their new book Dream Home, out now (it debuted on April 4). And consider me impressed. These twin brothers have officially been working it since they were kids, and they intend to keep their empire growing.

You can read the full piece on Parade’s website—Property Brothers: Living the Dream—or take a look at the story here.

Hannah Davis Gets HEALTH-y

Thursday, March 17th, 2016

HannahTOC_Page_1This month, I took a long gorgeous drive up to Malibu to meet Hannah Davis, who was wrapping up her photoshoot at an insane rented house overlooking the ocean. I sat with Hannah—model, television host, swimsuit goddess and all-around cool chick—on the outside patio while we talked for Health magazine all things health, fitness, food, Project Runway Jr. and weddings (she’s engaged to Derek Jeter).

Here’s a taste of the story. You can read the full interview at the Health.com site, Hannah Davis: I Don’t Want to Go to Birthday Parties and Not Eat Cake.

Jillian Michaels: “I Don’t Believe In All or Nothing”

Friday, September 25th, 2015

Time and again, Jillian Michaels is one of of my favorite people to interview.

HEALTHJillianCOMP2

Jillian is a font of excellent health, fitness and—best of all—life experience. And this sit-down with her, for the October 2015 issue of Health magazine is yet one more dose of her best.

When we met on the set of her new show Sweat, Inc., (which premieres Sept. 20th on Spike TV) she talked about fitness at every decade of your life, surviving failure and marriage equality. And her “trick” for approaching something you fear is my favorite advice yet — it’s at the end of the story, which you can read in full here on the Health.com website.

Do yourself a favor: Read. Enjoy. Go for it.

SophiaBushHEALTH_Page_1

I guess it’s fall, then. My first autumn cover is for the September 2015 issue of Health magazine, where I sat down for coffee one morning in West Hollywood with Sophia Bush.

Formerly of One Tree Hill, she’s now one of the stars of the NBC show Chicago P.D. and engaged in more than a few charitable organizations. Loved her. Love the piece. Hope you agree.

You can read the full piece here — Sophia Bush Seizes the Day — on Health.com’s website.

Shay’s All That: Shay Mitchell in Seventeen Magazine

Monday, July 20th, 2015

For the August issue of Seventeen magazine, I met up with Shay Mitchell in Hollywood to talk to her about her inspiring, happy life.

SEVENTEENShayCOVERShay is one of the stars of Pretty Little Liars, with a huge fan following. And during our long chat, it was a joy to see that she is using her platform for good—encouraging young women to find their confidence, spread their wings, and help others.

Especially fun for me: Talking with Shay gave me the opportunity sit down with the fourth and final Pretty Little Liar. (You can check out my interviews with the other three girls as well: Ashley Benson, Lucy Hale, and Troian Bellasario.)

Grab a copy of the August issue now to read the full story, and grab a taste here.

Tracy Anderson: How to Get Summer Abs

Monday, July 20th, 2015

I guess I just can’t get enough of Tracy Anderson.

HEALTHABSTracyAndersonCOVER 2

In addition to my cover story for the May 2015 issue of Health magazine, where I sat down with Tracy to talk about what led her to starting her successful fitness enterprise, I also got to talk to her for another issue of Health magazine. This time, we chatted about all things abs for the special summer issue: Flat Belly Now.

The issue includes my sit-down with Tracy about the best food and workout moves for a summer stomach.

The special issue also includes ab-happy outtakes of some of my other celebrity interviews—including my sit-downs with Rebecca Romijn, Hilary Duff, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and The Biggest Loser trainer Jen Widerstrom.

Grab the issue to read it all.

Tracy Anderson: Strong is the New Sexy

Thursday, April 30th, 2015

I’d heard of Tracy Anderson, of course. And I knew she had a loyal following, ranging from women friends of mine to celebrity clients like Lena Dunham and Julianne Hough, to her business partner in crime Gwyneth. And once I got to sit down with Tracy for the May 2015 issue of Health magazine, I finally get it.

No kidding that she has such devoted followers! And now that I’ve started doing her workouts myself, I count myself as one of them.

HEALTHTracyAndersonCOMP1

Granted, I still can’t get through one of her workouts without resting (like, eleven times) but this being bathing suit season and all, I’m going to keep trying. Read my interview with Tracy Anderson on the Health site. And then get moving.
