Harper’s Bazaar: The Stallone Sisters

Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017

My latest feature is for the cover of Harper—the fabulous beauty-based magazine tucked inside the May 2017 issue of Harper’s Bazaar.

The story is an interview with the three cute daughters of Sylvester Stallone and Jennifer Flavin Stallone: Sophia, Sistine and Scarlet: Sly’s Angels: The Stallone Sisters Enter the Spotlight. They surprised me with just how sweet, cool and funny they were.

One of my favorite parts was when they explained that, when they were younger, their dad used to wake them up at 6 am to do sit-ups and push-ups, and practice punches and shot-put before school. When I asked what they called this bootcamp-like workout, the middle-child Sistine said, “We called it an inconvenience.” Catch more of it in the whole story here on the Harper’s Bazaar site, or pick up an issue on stands now.

The Most Unique Interview I’ve Ever Done: Meghan Trainor

Wednesday, April 12th, 2017

The May 2017 issue of Cosmpolitan features my sit-down cover interview with the awesome, talented, interesting, warm, funny, cool singer, performer and songwriter Meghan Trainor, who is just the cutest. I’ve interviewed her before (here’s my last chat with her for Seventeen magazine)

Here’s the story on Cosmo‘s site: Meghan Trainor Living Out Loud.

Why was it unique? Because Meghan was on vocal rest for an upcoming vocal cord surgery, which meant she couldn’t actually, like, speak—instead, Meghan typed on her laptop’s Notes app, while her also awesome bestie assistant JoJo translated for her. Anyway, it was such a fun one.

The issue is on stands now.

My New Interview: Hilary Duff is All About Leaning Out

Thursday, April 6th, 2017

My latest cover story on stands is a sit-down I had with actress and singer Hilary Duff for the April 2017 issue of Redbook. I’d interviewed Hilary before, so I was looking forward to it—and she proved that she was still just as great as I’d remembered: open, fun, interesting and just…real.

We chatted a lot about what it’s like being a single mom to her son, Luca, whom she’s about co-parenting with her ex Mike Comrie—including mom guilt, how we judge each other, and what she does to stay emotionally grounded and happy as a parent.

You can read our full conversation by grabbing a copy of the issue, on stands now. Or, here’s a small taste of our talk: Hilary Duff is All About Leaning Out.

What I didn’t include is all the gabbing we did about her show Younger, which I am hopelessly enthralled with. If you’re not already watching, put June 28th in your iCal so you can check it out on TV Land when it returns for Season 4.

Some of…The Magnificent Seven

Monday, September 19th, 2016

My latest cover story debuted this month: A Parade magazine interview with Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt, about what it’s like playing Two of the Good Guys.

mag7coverI spoke to the pair at a home in Los Angeles, about their latest film: The Magnificent Seven, which is sort of a remake (1960’s The Magnificent Seven released in 1960) of a remake (1954’s Seven Samurai), but more so just its own thing.

The film, led by director Antoine Fuqua, opens nationally this weekend. And in the meantime, enjoy the fun that is Denzel and Chris batting their answers back and forth and discussing how they got along with their horses, and the value of playing “the goofy, funny guy.”

At Home with Ellen Pompeo

Monday, August 29th, 2016

embed_GH_Sept_Cover_RedFor this month’s September 2016 issue of Good Housekeeping, I spent some time with Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo in her Los Angeles home.

And my goodness, what a gorgeous home it is. She talked to me about designing the home from scratch with her friend and interior designer Martyn Lawrence. And we also talked about her family life with her husband and kids, as well as how her Grey’s Anatomy role began and has developed over the years.

She recently signed on for more seasons of Shonda Rhimes’ ABC show, but in the meantime, we all get to start watching a brand new season (Season 13) on Thursday, Sept 22. And to read the full story, pick up the latest issue of Good Housekeeping, or check out my Ellen Pompeo Cover Interview on the magazine’s website.

My Inspiring Chat with Shonda Rhimes

Monday, August 29th, 2016

embed_GH_Sept_Cover_RedIn addition to interviewing the cover star of the September 2016 issue of Good Housekeeping—Ellen Pompeo of Grey’s Anatomy—I was also lucky enough to interview the show’s creator, writer, producer and all-around epic TV master Shonda Rhimes.

Shonda and I had a wonderful telephone chat where she told me how her life has been going following the big year profiled in her bestselling book Year of Yes. Shonda, a mother of three shared how she’s learned to say “no” more, how she faces self-doubt, and her big secret for facing a difficult conversation.

You can check out my full interview One-on-One with Shonda Rhimes on the magazine’s website, or grab the new issue on stands now.

Alex Morgan: Kicking Ass

Wednesday, June 1st, 2016

I love talking to kickass women, and this month, it was Alex Morgan, forward for the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team. We talked for the cover of the July 2016 issue of Health magazine.

HEALTHAlexMorgan_Page_1

We got to talk about all the good stuff: How she warms up, works out and stays fit as she kills it on the U.S. team that won a gold medal and a World Cup championship. And we also talked about the important battle she and her teammates are waging in the fight for equal pay and comparable field quality for the women’s team — fair pay for fair play.

You can read the full fun and inspiring story on the Health.com site: Alex Morgan: Gold Rush. And you can also pick up the issue on stands and get a small taste of her awesome story here.
